Welcome to Bokee Farm, ethical, holistic-minded dog breeders located on one of the beautiful barrier islands off the coast of Southwest Florida. Founded by Lisa Marie and Shannon Grantham, our small family breeding program is built on love, experience, and an unwavering commitment to raising happy, healthy, and well-socialized family pets.
At Bokee Farm, every puppy is raised in our home and handled daily from birth. We follow ethical breeding practices under the guidance of our Repro Vet, perform DNA health testing on all parent dogs, and carefully plan each pairing to ensure sound structure, temperament, and health.
Bokee Farm is located in Bokeelia, on beautiful Pine Island—a peaceful corner of Southwest Florida known for its agricultural roots, fishing heritage, and tight-knit creative community. Our 1.36-acre property was originally a palm tree nursery, but over time we transformed it into a thriving edible and medicinal landscape that reflects our holistic way of living.
When we first arrived, the land was already rich with fruiting trees, pineapples, and tropical plants. We expanded on that foundation by planting moringa, herbs, and a variety of medicinal and food-bearing trees and plants, creating a food forest property that nourishes both people and animals alike.
Although we briefly explored hemp farming, the humidity of Southwest Florida wasn’t ideal—but the experience deepened our respect for nature’s rhythms and our desire to live in harmony with the land. Today, we focus on self-sufficiency, sustainability, and responsible stewardship, continually improving our farm with each passing season.
Pine Island itself is a special place—a haven for growers, fishermen, and artists who value a slower pace of life and the beauty of community. The people here are resourceful, welcoming, and deeply connected to the island’s natural charm—qualities that mirror our own values at Bokee Farm.

Our story began with the majestic Neapolitan Mastiff—a breed that quickly captured our hearts and shaped the foundation of Bokee Farm. Through years of dedication, we built a reputation as one of the top Neapolitan Mastiff breeders in the United States, producing healthy, well-tempered, and structurally sound dogs that have found loving homes across the United States and Canada.
We are deeply proud of the preservation work we have done with this ancient and noble breed. Being recognized among the best breeders in the U.S. is an honor we are very proud of. We closed our Neo breeding program in early 2024, however we will hold the Neapolitan Mastiff breed in our hearts always.
In September 2022, Hurricane Ian devastated our farm, dog recreation areas, and much of our island community. The destruction was overwhelming, and it became clear that continuing to raise large breeds like Mastiffs here was no longer safe or sustainable.
With heavy hearts, we re-homed our farm animals inland and partnered with our dear friends in New Mexico—a trusted breeder peer who had previously purchased both Neapolitan Mastiff and English Bulldog puppies from us. Their 20-acre ranch became a new haven for our Mastiffs, allowing the Bokee Farm bloodlines to continue thriving under their care.
Two years later, back-to-back storms Helene and Milton in 2024 brought catastrophic flooding—nearly four feet of water—to our property. It was a turning point that prompted us to refocus and adapt once again.
In September 2022, Hurricane Ian devastated our property, kennels, and much of our island community. The destruction was overwhelming, and it became clear that continuing to raise large breeds like Mastiffs here was no longer safe or sustainable.
With heavy hearts, we rehomed our farm animals locally and partnered with our dear friends, Sarah Cruthfield of Patton Farms in New Mexico—a trusted breeder who had previously purchased both Neapolitan Mastiff and English Bulldog puppies from us.
Her 20-acre ranch became a new haven for our Mastiffs, allowing the Bokee Farm bloodlines to continue thriving under her care.
Two years later, back-to-back storms Helene and Milton in 2024 brought catastrophic flooding—nearly four feet of water—to our property. It was a turning point that prompted us to refocus and adapt once again.
After the 2024 flooding, we realized that we needed to have the ability to evacuate the island for catastrophic acts of nature, so we made the difficult decision to retire our English Bulldog breeding program over time and begin developing our Mini Dachshund program alongside our growing Chihuahua lines.
These smaller breeds are perfectly suited to our current lifestyle and environment, they pack up and travel much easier. Like all our dogs, they are health-tested, raised in our home, and loved as part of our family from day one. Their joyful temperaments, intelligence, and affectionate natures make them exceptional companions for families, couples, and individuals alike.
Updated July 28, 2026: Our English Bulldog breeding program closed officially in May 2026. We are fully transitioned to Chihuahuas and Mini Dachshunds.
The future of Bokee Farm is bright. We are fully dedicated to perfecting our Chihuahua and Mini Dachshund breeding programs, and we are excited to begin showing our dogs in the ring—an exciting new chapter in our journey.
